July 2025 Astrology
The big story in this month’s astrology, tying in with the bigger story of the year, and into the next decade, is Uranus shifting into Gemini. Uranus will be in the mutable air sign from July 7th to November 7th, then return to Taurus, wrap it up, and be back in Gemini April 25th 2026 for about 6 years.
This is part of the other outer planet shifts from earth and water to fire and air. Pluto now in air sign Aquarius, Neptune in fire sign Aries, and now Uranus. Things are going to change. This is concepts, ideas, comminications travelling faster. It’s never seen before tech and innovations (Uranus). It’s identifying with ideals, initiating things and strong leaders (Neptune), power to the people (Pluto) and also (again Neptune) false prophets. The times they are a-changin’ as Bob Dylan sang.
Uranus in Gemini
Uranus is also new tech and sudden change. Gemini is fast, curious, explores ideas and loves to discuss. It’s ruled by Mercury (the messenger of the gods in mythology) and associated with the 3rd house, which is all about communications.
Uranus will definitely revolutionize communication, as it has in the past (see more below). There is the danger of getting lost in a vortex of incoming communications and information. As the information we see online becomes more and more individually curated, we will all have our own reality. I keep repeating that discernment is the watchword. Hopefully we will have the tools to help us navigate all the information that will be available. That’s the innovation I’m hoping Uranus will bring. Some form of AI to help us separate the wheat form the chaff (and yes the old fashioned analogy was on purpose).
Sun
The Sun arrives in its home sign of Leo on the 22nd of July. Leo is related to the 5th house of romance, sex, pleasure, fun and entertainment. Also everything to do with children and our creativity. This is vacation time. We’re enjoying doing what we like. We’re with our children, grandchildren, godchildren at the lake or the beach. Or we’re lazing by a pool. We’re at summer music festivals, art festivals or other outdoor activities. Summer romance flourishes. It’s all very hedonistic.
Moon
The Moon is full on the 10th in Capricorn, as the Sun still sits in Cancer. This is classic 4th house/10th house opposition. 4th house is home, family, our intimate safe space. 10th house is success, where we’re out climbing the corporate ladder, gaining recognition and status in the world. We are reminded to find balance between both, and maybe looking forward to some vacation time!
Just 2 days after the Sun arrives in Leo we have a New Moon at 2 degrees of Leo on the 24th of July. But retrograde Mercury is there! Set your intention anyway but don’t start or launch anything. Mercury
There’s a retrograde from July 18th to August 11th, all in the sign of Leo. But do keep in mind the buffer dates: pre-retrograde shadow starts June 30th (at 4 degrees of Leo) and the post-retrograde shadow concludes on August 25th (at 15 degrees of Leo). For all of us this can be past romantic partners coming back, children or issues with them returning. Also a good time to review or take out old creative projects that have been collecting dust.
Venus
Venus is in Gemini starting on the 4th and remains there until the 30th. In Gemini, Venus is hard to pin down! You may have all sorts of ideas for beautifying self and surroundings, but can’t choose. Careful of spending on a whim. Or being unable to decide where to put your romantic attentions. Venus in Gemini makes us a charming and lively communicator, and an excellent flirter.
The 3rd house is our siblings and cousins. It’s out short trips and all our writing, speaking, even thought process and inner dialogue. You may be spending more time with siblings, enjoying each other’s company. If there is something to talk through, Venus is diplomatic and concerned with how others feel. What you say will be well received. You may also have the urge to plan a romantic week end getaway, or even a day trip.
Mars
Mars continues in Virgo (6th house) all month having arrived on June 17th, and Mars is getting work done! In fact Mars is in his joy in the 6th house. There’ stuff to accomplish and a goal to reach! This is also unpaid work, other jobs, tasks or duties you have, usually where we are of service to others. It’s also exercise and lifestyle routines. You may be working out more or more intensely. Mars can also be confrontational. Mars is our ego so we can quickly feel we’re being taken advantage of, or being undermined. This can easily arise with co-workers, employees or tenants.
Uranus
This is huge news. July 7th to November 7th is our test run, with Uranus in Gemini. Uranus is breakthroughs and breakdowns and breaking free. It’s also breaks and separations. Uranus is futuristic and rules technology and unpredictable events. Uranus want to break the structure of Saturn and move into the future. Ultimately Uranus is about freedom.
Wherever Uranus transits in your chart is where you will see the most change. Uranus can affect you directly or a person concerned by that house and this has effect on you.
The last times Uranus was in Gemini was 1942-1949. German radios were mass produced with the goal of being able to transmit Nazi propaganda (communication). The atom bomb was used (never before seen tech). Before that the printing press was invented in 1440 (written communication revolution). The Big Shifts
There’s a lot going on in the sky and we are in rehearsal period. Uranus, Neptune will retrograde back into their previous signs then be there for good (or just a pretty long time) in 2026. I have several videos on this. It’s a lot to talk about all at once, so I’ve done a few shorter videos and focused on specific aspects of these transits. Ease of communication!
