September Astrology

The astrology for September 2025 brings 2 eclipses. The are 2 pairs of eclipses a year and while they don’t necessarily fall in the same month, they are close together, about 14 days apart. Eclipses follow the cycles of the Moon, bringing a lunar eclipse and a solar eclipse, also called a New Moon eclipse. When I started studying astrology, I thought eclipses were spring and fall astrological phenomenon, but in fact, as they follow a 6 month cycle related to the Moon, we can have them earlier or later. My YouTube video goes through the sign by sign.

The Eclipses

Eclipses are powerful, fated changes happening in the shadows. We don’t have the whole story, but the wheels are set in motion in the darkness. These eclipses will be most impactful if they fall in an angular house: Pisces, Virgo, Sagittarius and Gemini.

Lunar Eclipse

The lunar eclipse is September 7th at 15 degrees 23 of Pisces.  It’s a reverse of the March 14th lunar eclipse in Virgo at 23 degrees 57, when the Sun was in Pisces. Remember not to make a decision or choose sides. You don’t have the whole story. Something is coming to an end, but we can’t see it yet.

Canada’s Prime Minister and the Pisces-Virgo eclipses

Here in Canada, former Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, left office a little over 12 hours before the March 14th lunar eclipse. Mark Carney was sworn in less than 12 hours after this eclipse, 2 days before his birthday March 16th. Obviously he does not follow the astrology. The eclipse energy would suggest an ending despite what seemed like a start. The eclipse was across from Carney’s Sun in his 7th house (by solar chart) of rivals and competition, also partners and mentors. The front story is he beat out his competition, namely Chrystia Freeland (who is also a close friend, as Carney is godfather to one of her sons).

Without getting into to it too deep, Freeland was minister in key positions under Trudeau’s government until she resigned as Finance Minister in December of 2024. Trudeau was already struggling, with calls for his resignation, and Freeland’s timing and wording of her resignation letter was seen as the nail in his political coffin. Sam Routley, writing for Western News, gives an excellent–a refreshingly unbiased– explanation.

I am curious to see if there will be another installment here. Predicting with eclipses is dicey as we can’t know when the real story will emerge. But the energy of this eclipse cycle gives me the feeling that Carney will be tripped up by someone close to him, likely from within his party. In March we’ll see another eclipse on this axis, same as the March 2025 one (Sun in Pisces, Moon in Virgo) and a reverse of this one September 7th. The story could continue in March 2026.

Solar Eclipse

The solar eclipse will be in Virgo, the sign opposite Pisces, on the 21st at 29 degrees 5. In and of itself a planet at 29 degrees, the anarectic degree, heralds change. The last degrees of Virgo carry the energy of Leo, so think self expression, uniqueness, identity, especially in the house where this falls for you. The Sun struggles to self express here.

Leo also rules royalty, so perhaps we’ll see something to do with royalty. King Charles was crowned near an eclipse, which has had astrologers shaking their heads ever since. In ancient astrology, a solar eclipse was associated with the fall of a King. The Sun is ruler of Leo, the sign of royalty and associated with a leader or king. Today we’d think CEO. And, as mentioned above, there is Leo energy to this eclipse.

In general it is something beginning in shadow. It’s when we look back and think: “Ohhhh, that’s when that all started.” Or started to end. I find an ending heralds a beginning and vice versa.

Sun

The Sun is in Virgo until the 22nd, then ingresses into Libra. We shift from the back to work, school, getting organized energy to Libra and the 7th house. Libra is social and the 7th is partners, close friends that we consider mentors and advisors. It’s also our exes and rivals. We’ll be more focused on relationships and Libra likes a win-win. It’s all about the balance and fairness.

Mercury

Mercury is never far from the Sun, arriving in Virgo on the 2nd and then into Libra on the 18th. He is completely out of his retrograde cycle which ended August 25th. At home in Virgo, we’re really examining and researching in relation to work, academic work, health and also our pets. Maybe a new exercise or diet routine, meal prepping, scheduling chores and activities so things run smoothly.

Mercury is chatty in Libra and curious about others. You’ll want to know and understand another’s point of view and take a balanced approach in your communications.

Venus

Venus leaves Leo for Virgo on the 19th. We’re seeing a lot of energy in 2 houses this month. Remember to watch for your Sun and Rising to see where all this is happening for you. The 6th house is workplace and co-workers. Venus can bring about a romance in the workplace or at least some serious office flirtation. This applies to all of us, so watch what happens around you. Venus is also great energy to get people on board for a project or to settle an issue. Venus, the ruler of Libra, is diplomatic and considerate. Everyone will come away feeling good.

Mars

Mars leaves Libra on the 22nd, the same day the Sun arrives there,  and ingresses in Scorpio. Mars is the traditional ruler of Scorpio and finds his expression in incisiveness, action and decision. Mars rules fire, metal and sharp instruments. So is related to the military but also surgeons, butchers and blacksmiths. Those who defend, probe below the surface or those who forge metal with fire. Scorpio is secretive, so Mars energy will turn to searching below the surface or behind the facade to figuring out secrets. There’s a fearlessness and won’t back down energy about Mars. As Mars is confrontational you can be asking the tough questions and not taking no or avoidance for an answer. Remember Mars is our ego, so if we feel there are dealings behind our back, Mars can react impulsively and aggressively.

Mars and Pluto

I would be remiss if I did not mention that Mars squares Pluto upon arriving in Scorpio (Mars is also making difficult aspects to Neptune and Uranus). This is always conflict, as the god of War squares off with the god of the Underworld. Mars on retrograde opposed Pluto at the start of 2025. January 1st a man drove a truck into a crowd in New Orleans then was killed in a shootout with police. On January 2nd, a Cybertruck filled with fuel canisters and mortars exploded and set fire outside a Las Vegas hotel owned by Donald Trump.

Mars represent young men, the military or a group organized in that way. Pluto is plutocrats, the underworld, corruption and secrets. Pluto is the modern ruler of Scorpio.

Watch for something to happen in the collective: conflicts, aggression, a revelation that will lead to confrontation.  Something fiery and combustive usually happens with Mars. There’s power and control (Pluto) gained through secrets (Scorpio) and secret dealings (Pluto). Mars is the reactive energy.
