I’ve been a lifelong student of astrology. I chalk it up to my Scorpio Rising, reading Sydney Omarr in the paper, as a child.  Astrology isn’t predictive, you have free will and can do as you please, thank goodness for all of us! But it can be used to target auspicious times for different undertakings. It can also describe a person uncannily well. I hold a level 2 certification from the CAAE, and in these astrology blogs, meant to be a break for my usual topics, I’ll give you an insight into how astrology works and the big themes that astrologers are talking about right now. Note: For ease, I’ve put numeric values as opposed to writing out the numbers.

Uranus

Another big astrology topic, for the next several years, is Uranus transiting Taurus. The planet Uranus moved into the sign of Taurus in 2018. Uranus rules electricity, lighting and technology. Uranus is disruptive. It is considered the modern ruler of the sign of Aquarius. Wherever Uranus is, something unpredictable and possibly electricity/technology related happens. An out-of-left-field invention or a realization that hits you like a bolt of lightning.  Think Benjamin Franklin flying a kite in a thunderstorm. Or Doc Brown from Back to the Future, emerging from a cloud of smoke after his overloaded electric circuits fry and yelling “I’ve got it!”

Uranus is so unpredictable, that astrologers will not say more than: “Expect the unexpected.” But the strange thing is is that once this event happens, we all usually think ‘Oh, yeah, of course.’

Uranus is rebellious towards the established structure. It pushes us to be free. Astronomically, Uranus is right after Saturn. Saturn is our structure, our boundaries and Uranus is the force that wants to shake them up and move us forward. It can be an accident or a godsend. Either way, we are pushed to another level of realization, struck with sudden insight.

Taurus

Taurus is the second sign of the zodiac. Remember as we move through the 12 signs, we open up more and more to our surroundings, to others and finally to the collective. If Aries is about self, Taurus is our first steps into our physical world. Taurus, a fixed earth sign, is about what we own on a material level.

It is the sign of our valuables, our possessions and our income. As well is the skills and abilities to gain these. Taurus also represent the 5 senses. As an earth sign, this will manifest in the tangible plane: what we own, that we can touch, feel, taste (most Taurus love food!). Taurus is about precious possessions and money in the bank. Taurus is ruled by Venus, making them lovers of fine things and usually collectors. As a fixed sign, Taurus want to sustain what is there and grow it. They make good investors because that is wealth grown over a sustained period of time. Charging Bull, also called the Wall Street Bull is the symbol of finance and the stock market in New York. It sits in Manhattan’s financial district. A ‘bull market’ is one that is on the rise, growing money and income: a Taurus thing.

On the up side, they are philanthropists. On the down side, they can become too attached to their possessions and identify themselves through what they own. Taurus is a slow and steady wins the race type of energy. Taureans can accomplish great things, through that sheer, famous, Taurus stubbornness.

So what does it all mean?

Many astrologers expected a sudden happening with regards to currency. Bitcoin was mentioned in many discussions. Certainly, COVID has increased the use of virtual payments, from credit cards to paying with your cell phone, wether transfers or through an app. Actual currency has declined drastically.

The way we earn a living (Taurus-income) has also has a sudden technological upheaval (Uranus). How many people now work from home, using technology to do so. This was a sudden and unexpected change. Many organizations scrambled to connect their employees from home. And employees scrambled to adapt.

People were destabilized in their structure and boundaries. Maybe, instead of an office, they now earned their income working in their kitchen. A boss who oversaw employees now finds herself in an empty office, with a modified hierarchy. This is Uranus disrupting the established structure (Saturn) in relation to money (Taurus).

Uranus works in unpredictable ways. It isn’t a long, slow transformation like Pluto going through Capricorn.   It’s as if Uranus wants to start shaking us up for the bigger transformations of Neptune and Pluto.

Upcoming events

In 2021, as Jupiter moves into Aquarius where he’ll square to Uranus, creating an aspect of tension. Jupiter  increases and gives more to whatever he touches. He’s a beneficial planet, but in this square to Uranus we might have to learn how to deal with too much of a good thing.  In other words, to manage wisely (Jupiter is also wisdom) what we receive. Saturn will follow helping us restructure our new Uranus rearranged situation.

Where Uranus is in your chart can mean a life changing, unforeseen event.  A sudden inspiration or a sudden break. You can read break as an opportunity or breaking away or breaking off. A New Age awakening or a separation or divorce. Uranus challenges the set-in-our-ways Saturnian energy. We build structure with Saturn, and then we move beyond. Certainly, how well you deal Uranus depends on how tightly you cling to your ways of thinking and your attitude towards change.

Uranus went retrograde on August 11. He will start to move forward again January 10, 2021 and catch up to where he was in August on April 26, 2021. Consequently, this last pass seals a transformative event in that area of life Uranus is affecting. In the end, it is all part of our evolutionary process.
