May 2024 astrology
May 2024 astrology is not as action packed as April’s that gave us a retrograde and eclipse, both in Aries! But we do have Jupiter changing signs and Pluto stationing retrograde. My videos for each sign are up on my YouTube.
Jupiter
Jupiter ingresses into Gemini on May 25th for 1 year. This means Jupiter is in a particular house only once in 12 years. Jupiter is the greater benefit in astrology, delivering blessings, opportunities. solutions and plan old luck. Jupiter also expands everything, so what you take on may grow more than you imagined. It’s good to know where he is transiting as it is an area of huge potential for the coming year.
Plus on arrival he’ll trine Pluto, giving us all a take charge feeling in this new area of our lives. He’ll also arrive just behind the Sun and Venus, the lesser benefic. So Jupiter is preceded by a sort of entourage, hailing his arrival in Gemini.
For all of us this is an increase communications and learning. This is what we say and write but also our style of doing so: communication style, thought process. Also our choice of medium. Gemini is related to the 3rd house of communication and our familiar environment: siblings, cousins , neighbors and short trips and commutes, technical skills and school and teaching. Jupiter is related to the 9th house (as the ruler of Sagittarius): whatever is foreign, higher education, long distance travel. It is mind expansion and learning, forging our life outlook.
With Jupiter’s propensity to expand everything, we will see more communications, in different formats, especially online. To me it’s a feeling of everyone finding their voice. But also of a lot more information available. I’ve also long thought online learning is going to greatly improve. No longer will distance or classroom capacity be a factor. Bigger communication, widespread learning: Jupiter in Gemini.
Mercury
Mercury’s post retrograde shadow is over May 13th. We are finally completely in the clear. Things will move forward. Mercury is related to areas such a communications, buying ground transportation and communication devices will not be as daunting. If this sounds familiar it’s because Mercury rules Gemini.
If you’ve been waiting to sign something (Mercury also rules agreements and negotiations and commerce) now is the time to go ahead. What ever has been hanging without resolution will start to conclude.
Sun
The Sun is in Taurus and moves to Gemini for a month beginning on the 20th. Both Sun and Venus will precede Jupiter into Gemini, and all 3 will trine Pluto upon arrival. We’re off to a remarkable start with a feeling of intensity and wanting to really take charge. Again communications will be the focus. It will feel as if everyone has something to say, and quite forcibly. We want to be heard and our words to carry weight. We are exploring ideas intensely. We are more social because of this desire for exchange and interaction.
Venus
Venus is in her home sign of Taurus until the 23rd. Venus can be her sensual self in Taurus. We want to enjoy the good things: food, nice clothes, beautiful surroundings. Venus in Taurus is definitely booking a spa day! Taurus also relates to money and so does Venus. We may be spending on sensual pleasures, more than we should, especially when Venus conjuncts Jupiter as she leaves Taurus. May astrology has both Venus and Mars in their home signs.
Mars
Mars ingresses into his home sign of Aries on April 30th and is there for a 6 weeks. Mars is his pure self in Aries, the fiery-ist of the fire signs. There could be a lot of conflict and confrontation individually and collectively. Aries rules the house of self, meaning physical self, the head and face, also image and self identity. Mars is driven, impulsive and not prone to backing down. There’s potential for everyone to be doing their thing, that they intensely identify with, but forgetting others or even becoming angry if someone gets in their way.
On the other side, there is great possibility to get things done. Mars is a powerful motor, but needs a goal. Otherwise the energy is squandered. It is a different house for each sign, and the YouTube videos go into that.
Pluto
Pluto stations retrograde on May 2nd. He will return to Capricorn this fall, for the last time. At least for us in this life, as Pluto has a 248 year orbit around the Sun. Pluto has been grinding down on the first degrees of Aquarius: ingressing, retrograding and moving forward again, since March 2023. If you have anything at the first degrees of any sign, that planet, and inevitably the house it is in, is getting triggered by an aspect to Pluto, the planet that is about power and control, showing us what isn’t working, and transformation. I expect Pluto’s final presence in Capricorn this fall to be quite intense.
Full Moon
There’s a Full Moon in Sagittarius at 2 degrees, on the 23rd. Sagittarius is all about the truth, nay, THE truth. Finding that belief or unifying theory. Sagittarius is related to the 9th house: organized religion, what is foreign, widespread communication like advertising and media, the web, publishing and also propaganda. The Sun and Venus sit across in Gemini, related to our communications. 2 days later, Sagittarius’ ruler, Jupiter arrives.
Full Moons increase emotion and can bring light to something or closure. Expect emotional outburst related to clashes of beliefs: religious, political, moral, ethical. Maybe between people or groups with opposing views, or individual views versus mass media information.
