September Astrology
The astrology of September is up on my YouTube for each sign. We are entering eclipse season and Pluto is wrapping up in Capricorn. It has been 16 years of deep transformation and change in whatever house Pluto has transited.
Sun
The Sun spends almost all month in Virgo, encouraging us to get organized and fine tune a routine. We’re also focused on work, paid or unpaid: jobs, duties and responsibilities. After summer indulgences, it’s also time to think about health and exercise. It’s not so hot anymore, no more excuses! And a fall nature walk is so beautiful! Virgo truly is the energy of back to work, back to school.
On the 22nd, the Sun moves into Libra, just as Venus leaves. We’re continuing being sociable, we want to hear what others have to say. We want to hear both sides. Libran the scales likes balance and fairness.
Moon
There’s a New Moon on the 2nd at 11 degrees of Virgo. Time to set intentions in this area (see Sun above). Write those down somewhere with the date. It’s always a good idea to set an intention in line with the energy of the sign the New Moon is in.
We’re also back in eclipse season. There’s a Lunar eclipse on the Full Moon of the 17th at 25 degrees of Pisces. An eclipse is always something blacked out. Like all Full Moons it is an ending or a culmination, but you are not seeing it yet. Something or someone is being eclipsed out but it is happening in shadow. All eclipses are powerful change elements.
We can sometimes look ahead to the next Full Moon for an indication. But usually the trigger is when another planet runs over the same degrees, even in another sign. Uranus will do that for the first 3 weeks of November. At least he’ll be the first, moving through Taurus. Let’s see what happens.
Mercury
Mercury is out of post-retrograde shadow on the 12th and is then zooming along as usual. He’ll be in Virgo, his home sign, by the 9th and in Libra by the 26th.
There will be a conjunction with the Sun from the 28th to October 5th. Not only are we focused on one area of our lives with the Sun there, but Mercury has our thoughts turned there too. We are looking at ideas and options. Mercury in Virgo is about devising a system or routine that works, examining things in detail and fitting it all together. We can definitely be discussing ideas with others. This is a time of strong mental focus and clarity.
Venus
Venus is at home in Libra until the 22nd. We’re social butterflies, and want to get out and schmooze. Or be the hostess with the mostess. “How are you, darling? Muah! Muah!” That kind of thing. Maybe it’s catching up with people we haven’t seen over the summer.
Venus in Libra likes esthetic beauty. We may be going to art galleries or browsing online or shopping for something eye pleasing and probably expensive.
Then Venus moves to Scorpio on the 22nd. Venus in Scorpio is her charming self but with Scorpio’s ability to see under the surface. Venus there can really devise a way of getting what she wants, and can even be somewhat manipulative.
Mars
Mars spends most of the month in Cancer arriving on the 4th, and stays into October. This is energy, assertiveness and drive on one particular area of our chart. Mars wants to get things done. Mars can be very direct and single0minded and doesn’t pay much attention to what others are thinking or doing. This can be a good thing or a bad thing. My great-grandfather used to say ‘Everything in moderation.”
Pluto
Pluto returns to Capricorn and he means business! Sitting at the critical 29 degree mark, from September 1st to November 19th, Pluto is here to wrap up a 16 year transit in the sign related to governments, people in authority, the few who sit at the top of the pyramid.
Pluto is secrets, secret societies, the dark side, corruption. he shows us the bad side of a good thing. What happens when things are breaking down and need to transform. There’s a death and rebirth into something better with Pluto.
I just posted a video on Pluto’s last time in Capricorn—at least for us in this lifetime. I talk about a Mars opposition and also a sextile to Neptune. Neptune is about compassion and idealism but also illusion and deception, Pluto is power and control. The opposition to Mars is exact on the eve of the US elections. Mars in Cancer is about where we feel we belong, homeland, state, province and country. The phrase that keeps coming to mind is “It ain’t over until it’s over.”
Enjoy September!
