November Astrology
The astrology for each sign is on my YouTube. With November Astrology, we’re in Scorpio season for the first part of the month, an energy that is about the emotional self and connection on a very deep level. Scorpio is secretive and intense and is associated with sex and intimate connection, sexual or not. Scorpio is also associated with death and deep transformation, a metaphoric death of self.
Scorpio Season
This is a sign that is all about what is below the surface. Anything related to mining is Scorpio, as is lingerie, plumbing and precious gems. The idea of probing underneath, literally or figuratively. Refuse is also Scorpio. This is the time of year where dead vegetation is cleared (death is Scorpio), the earth is turned, and bulbs are planted to lie dormant until the spring. It is the ‘dead season’ in nature. But there is new life waiting below the surface.
Added to that we had the solar eclipse in Libra and a full moon in Aries in October, so it’s been a lot about self and self in relationship to that significant other or others. Again the theme of intimate connection.
Sagittarius Season
November Astrology also brings the start of Sagittarius season . It isn’t haphazard or random to me that Sagittarius season runs from November 21st to December 21st. The time of year when it’s darkest. If you live in the northern hemisphere, the 21st of December is the shortest amount of daylight we get during the year, only about eight hours between sunrise and sunset. It’s a time when a lot of people are really down from lack of daylight. Any festival or holiday at this time is associated with the return of light, as the days get longer: Christmas, Yule, Hannukah. The Roman celebrated Saturnalia, near winter solstice on the 21st, as Saturn was associated with agriculture and time.
Traditionally, the outdoors activities of farming are over, it’s colder and we stay indoors. It’s still somewhat like that, especially in colder climates. Whether the weather or associated holidays, it’s also a time of year when we reflect.
Sagittarius, like all fire signs, is concerned with self identity. But being the last of the fire signs, it’s the most open to the collective. So it’s not just about self, Who am I? But about all of us as a collective What are we all about? What is it all about? What is the meaning of life?
Sagittarius is associated with the 9th house and is ruled by Jupiter, the great teacher. It’s the big questions. What is our place in the world? What are we here to do? It’s about exploring what is different in order to better understand who we are. The 9th is higher education, long distance travel, foreign lands and people, also mass scale communications like publishing and media. Sagittarius is an adventurer and traveler. It’s about life outlook.
The Big Themes
The YouTube video goes into more detail, but the major themes this month are the Mercury retrograde, Mars still slowing, a Mars-Pluto opposition and Pluto finally leaving Capricorn for good for 248 years.
Mars
Mars is going slower and slower as he prepares to station retrograde on December 6th. This slowing and reversing energy is plain frustrating. Mars wants to go forward, fast. The best way to harmonize with this energy is to accept the slow down and use it to plan, revise, fine tune and test. Physical activity, like a brisk walk can help as Mars is a physical energy. If you practice combat sports, that’s Mars’ favorite outlet!
Mars-Pluto Opposition
Mars will oppose Pluto from the October 27th to November 4th (right over the US elections). The video is here. This is very explosive energy. It’s confrontational. It is also to be avoided. This will be a dragged out conflict because Mars wants to win and Pluto is intensely powerful. Neither is backing down. You will get more than bargained for if you get caught up in this.
Capricorn is associated with the 10th house which is powerful people at the top. Those with the political power, money and influence. The 10th is government, government institutions, social structure, the social pyramid. When it works it is lovely: the idea of those at the top serving/helping those at the bottom. Out of whack, it is a break between top and bottom. There are unhealthy power plays, mistreatment, exploitation, rather than using one’s power for good!
Pluto’s job is to show us what isn’t working and transform it. Pluto, modern ruler of Scorpio, is related to corruption, secrets and secret societies, the underworld. Interesting that Pluto is leaving Capricorn during Scorpio season.
Mars represents conflict, fire, soldiers, the military and para-military organizations. Anything with a very hierarchical construct, defined roles and a mission. Labor unions and strikes fall under Mars. In fact, all people and organizations that are inflammatory, fast moving, and combative. Mars is also a young male energy. There’s definite potential for conflict.
Mars is sitting in Cancer in the 4th house. The 4th is homeland, where we are from, our sense of belonging and ‘family’, where we feel secure. Cancer is very sensitive, protective (think the crab’s shell) and nurturing but at the same time very strong. Cancer is the mother energy. Think the Statue of Liberty (a woman) welcoming people to their new homeland.
Mercury
Mercury retrogrades in Sagittarius from November 25th to December 15th, from 22 degrees to 6 degrees. But Mercury is already in shadow on the 7th of November. And post retrograde shadow lasts until January 3rd 2025. You can find my related videos on Mercury retrograde on my channel.
Finally Pluto
On the 19th of November 2024 (write this down!) Pluto moves into Aquarius, for 20 years. We will not see Pluto in Capricorn again in this lifetime. This is part of the great shift of outer planets from earth and water signs to air and fire signs.
We can breathe a sigh of relief, or maybe we’ll still be reeling. The last 2 years of Pluto teetering on the edge between Capricorn and Aquarius has been very intense. First and last degrees of any signs always are. You may get a clear sense of what the next 20 years are going to be in terms of deep transformation.
Pluto isn’t completely out of post retrograde shadow until February 2nd 2025, so there are still some clingy cobwebs. But it’s pretty much over.
Rosemary Astrology
A lot of my astrology is on my YouTube channel, aptly named rosemary astrology. I don’t always post that astrology here. I am also wondering if I should stop completely and just post on YouTube. Let me know what you think. I am also trying to go back to good old fashioned blog writing. Especially on manifestation.
