The Astrology of 2025
The January astrology for each sign is up on my YouTube. January is fairly relaxed, although the personal planets are either ending retrograde, in the middle of retrograde or preparing to enter a retrograde cycle. In 2025 we’ll also see the first manifestations of the big shifts of 2025-2026 with Saturn, Uranus and Neptune moving into fire and air signs, as Pluto did in November of 2024. We are looking at several years of air and fire, and less of earth and water. Things will go faster, a lot of new ideas and ways and anything communication and/or related to how we are seen (especially online) will come in. Think never before seen.
Sun
The Sun sits in Capricorn until the 19th. This is where we seek status and success. It is about people at the top, and of course the base of the pyramid on which they sit: the people at the bottom. Pluto left Capricorn late in November and has yet to complete his post retrograde cycle. We are still exploring themes of power imbalances. There may be more focus on who is at the top and what is and isn’t working with this system.
On the 19th the Sun shifts into Aquarius. Both Aquarius and Capricorn are Saturn ruled. There’s an idea of structure and boundaries. In Aquarius however, the energy is inclusive. It is people power and those at the bottom of the pyramid. It is about structure there, getting organized. Grass roots organizations and labor unions, as well as their activities, will be on the rise.
The Sun conjuncts Pluto upon arrival, giving energy and focus to where the power lies. We may see more humanitarian/human rights organizations, ordinary people speaking up and out. Energy is high and so is confidence. ‘The People’ want transformation.
Moon
The Full Moon is on the 13th in Cancer at 24 degrees. An opposition between Cancer in the 4th house and Capricorn in the 10th. This is homeland, state, region, province. Our roots and where we identify with. The Sun in Capricorn in the 10th house is government authority, parental authority, those people at the top with the means, the power, the fame. And inevitably some measure of authority and control over us.
The Moon is at home in Cancer, so emotions run high. Higher than a regular Full Moon. This is the sign of the mother energy or mother figure. We are concerned with protection, security and where we are nurtured.
Mars on his retrograde will not be far off. So we are easily triggered with the Full Moon, more so that the Moon is at home in Cancer where it is all about feelings and Mars not far off is ready to get into it. Not a good time to start any discussion or argument. And this is happening to all of us.
New Moon
The New Moon is on the 29th at 9 degrees of Aquarius. Great to set an intention in whatever house this is happening for you. You can use both Sun and Rising. But sun works better as an intention usually brings in things happening to us and around us. In general, it’s a good time to set an intention regarding a long term project. Even if you put in an hour a week it makes a difference.
Mercury
Mercury completes his retrograde cycle, coming out of post-retrograde shadow on January 3rd. Back up to speed he is in Capricorn by the 8th, along with the Sun, and in Aquarius by the 27th.
Mercury, never too far from the Sun, has us thinking and discussing about topics of the house he is transiting. Also learning, negotiating and hammering out agreements. Mercury is also good at research as he is curious and like to check out a lot of information. Mercury likes options.
Venus
Venus arrive in Pisces on the 2nd where she is exalted. She is at her very best. If Venus relates to love, it is love of human kind in Pisces. Venus does not come up against the boundary of ‘other’ in Pisces where we are all one. Creativity is favored also, being able to really find the flow and be inspired. We want love and beauty at its finest.
But the 12th house is secrets and hidden enemies. This can be a secret romance. But Venus is also relationships in general, not just romantic love. We may be exploring secrets tied to those. A secrecy pact with a loved one. Or a relationship you just never wanted to talk about because of how it affected you. The 12th is very much us alone with ourselves. We may discover where we are our own worst enemy, or how others have tripped us up in the past. If you feel something is off with someone, it probably is.
Moreover Venus enters her pre-retrograde shadow on the 28th, getting ready to station retrograde in March. Then we will really be reviewing relationships. Wether or not that person is present or not.
Mars
Oh, Mars! Mars is retrograde and moving back into Cancer on the 6th. Mars still wants to do something, but his ‘getting the job done’ attitude is frustrated because he is going in a big circle. And energy can fluctuate. He is not his power house self.
Try to channel some of that energy by having a goal. Nothing big, and preferable related to revising or replanning or reviewing something. Also physical exercise is a good outlet. So is sex, which is related to Mars.
But do avoid arguments and conflicts. These are over exagerrated. A disagreement becomes a full blown feud that is long and dragged our for nothing. It is over February 23rd and the post retrograde shadow (the end of the whole cycle) is May 1st. (Sorry if you watched the video, I said June 10th. And that’s Mercury retrograde making me goof up!)
