January 2026 Astrology

This month, ushering in the new year, I want to do things a little differently. Or maybe it’s just Uranus wrapping up in my 1st house, by sun chart. I want to show up in a new way, and break away from what was holding me back.

So with that in mind, we’ll look at the Sun, Moon and personal planets (that’s Mercury, Venus and Mars). But I also want to give space to Saturn, Neptune and Uranus. I’ve been going on about the big shifts of 2026, as these planets move into fire and air sign, joining Pluto already in air sign Aquarius. We’re leaving earth and water for fire and air in the coming years. Earth and water make things grow. Fire and air are combustive. And it’s not a short stint. Saturn spends 2 1/2 years in each sign Uranus 7-8 and Neptune 12-13. The January Astrology is up on my Youtube, so watch for your Sun and Rising.

The Pile Up

We are experiencing a lot of focus in one area of our lives. The Sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars will be in Capricorn at the end of the year and into 2026. Then all will move into Aquarius, joining Pluto. That’s 5 planets in 1 sign. We’ll feel a pull to focus on 1 thing, as they are all in one house.

For what this means in Capricorn, you can refer to last month’s blog or video. January will focus on everyone arriving in Aquarius.

Hiho, Hiho, Into Aquarius We Go

Venus, the Sun, Mercury and Mars will all arrive in Aquarius, one after the other. Venus on the 17th, until February 10th. The Sun on the 19th for 4 weeks. Mercury on January 20th until February 6th. And Mars, whose stay is longest, arrives on the 23rd for 6 weeks.

About Aquarius

Aquarius, like Pisces, which follows, it is about the whole. It’s a sign that is about the collective, the people, the masses.  But Aquarius still sees division, whereas  in Pisces we all meld into one.

Aquarius can still see the division of class that is associated with Capricorn and the 10th house, but wants to make it fairer, more leveled out. Which is why Aquarius is associated with the 11th house: social circle, unions, grass roots organization, clubs, teams and associations. People who come together around a common interest, from shared alma mater to labor rights to a groups of friends you meet for dinner because you  have common interests.

Saturn is Aquarius’s traditional ruler. Saturn’s penchant for structure and boundaries expresses in the structure of organizations. But also on the whole, for Aquarius wants to take the social pyramid, institutions, governments of Capricorn and make them more egalitarian. Aquarius says “Ok, this is good, we have a society, we’re supporting each other, but let’s make it better.”

There is an egalitarian, humanitarian angle with Aquarius. In ancient Rome, Aquarius was the water bearer. The roman aqueducts brought water into the cities and the first place this water was directed was the city’s fountain. It was accessible to all, regardless of social status. Then the baths, also communal. You can read about Aquarius more in this blog and my Pluto in Aquarius video (which has some clips of aqueducts still standing today-talk about built to last!).

So expect there to be a lot of energy around equality, individuals making moves as a group, people coming together and working together for the common good. There is also a rebellious streak with Aquarius, its modern ruler is Uranus, so we might see a group suddenly taking a stand, breaking away from a system or status quo. Or demanding a new way of doing things, a new organization of the system.

Conjunction to Pluto

All these planets will conjunct Pluto upon their arrival, sitting at about 2 degrees of Aquarius. Pluto is power and control issues, deep transformation. Pluto functions slowly and methodically. Each conjunction will add to this 20 year Pluto in Aquarius story.

The Sun has us examining where we are in control or where we give our power away.  Is our individuality being restricted? Venus will have us looking at the power plays in our relationships. Are you being controlled? Maybe by that other person or by expectations or social standards.

Mars and Pluto are dire combination. It’s as if Mars can’t handle the depth and intensity of Pluto power. This can be explosive and even violent. Think back to the start of 2025, when a retrograde Mars opposed Pluto, and we saw 2 attacks in the U.S., one in New Orleans and the other in Las Vegas.

Conjunct their energies combine, but intensely. We can see some sort of outburst, maybe violent in suddenness, size or actions. With Pluto is can be transformative, as in there is no gong back. It may be by a group of young men as Mars is a young masculine energy but also associated with the military. Which can mean that as such or a group that is very organized.

The Moon

Let’s take a look at the Moon. Before the Sun moves into Aquarius, there is a full Moon on the 3rd, in Cancer at 13 degrees. An opposition for all of us between Sun in Capricorn and Moon in Cancer. Capricorn is of the the 10th: government structures and institutions, people in authority like government organizations and those who sit at the top of the pyramid. Cancer is across in the 4th house. This is home and family, but also our roots, homeland and patriotism. We can be very emotionally reactive to a government rule or decree that affects our identity and sense of belonging. Or demanding something of government that aligns with our sense of patriotism and homeland identity. Calling on governments to reduce immigration is an example.

The new Moon on the 18th, at 28 degrees of Capricorn is a Sun-Moon conjunction. Something new is beginning and it could very well hinge on the opposition 2 weeks before.

Watch January Astrology for your sign as we get only 1 new moon per sign, per year, and each is an opportunity to set an intention in a specific area of our lives.

Saturn, Uranus and Neptune: Endings and Beginnings

I want to tell you of  Uranus, Neptune and Saturn. I have several videos on each but want to remind you of what is happening because it’s pretty darn huge. All 3 are wrapping up in their previous sign, meaning Taurus for Uranus and Pisces for Saturn and Neptune. They’ve made ingresses into their new signs but have now retrograded back. They want to drive a point home, especially as they pass over the last degree, called the anarectic degree, there is the energy of change. Knowing what was going on, and  where, can help you prepare for what is to come. You can have a sense of what the energy was and know what new area it is going to show up in.

Neptune

Neptune moves into Aries for the next 13-14 years on January 26th. This is the end of his reign in Pisces. I say reign because Neptune was at home there was the modern ruler of that sign. Now you’ll see Neptune’s idealism, but also blur and confusion in a new are of your life.

For all of us, Neptune in Aries can mean identifying strongly with our ideals. It can be a time of strong leaders with a spiritual energy that can be cult-like. I’ve speculated that we can see ‘false prophets’, leaders with their own personal agenda, as Neptune creates confusion and deception. There’s a power play behind all this. Is it really a leader representing the group’s greater good? Neptune will sextile Pluto in Aquarius, so the potential for them to work together is there. Or is it a facade for that one person’s own power grab? Pluto also rules what is hidden, secret societies and the underworld.

Saturn

Saturn’s cycle completes on February 13th. It’s a 2 1/2 yr cycle. Saturn is cold, rational and methodical. The opposite of Neptune. The combined energy can be discouraging. Saturn on his own makes us work hard, puts obstacles in our path. The goal is to make sure our structure is solid and we’ve built it up slowly with attention to detail. Saturn is a realist. Neptune is an illusion. So we have been struggling to attain/make something, with the bar set high by Neptune and with Saturn pulling us back to earth with detail, hurdles and the cold reality check.

You may decide to bottle your family’s famous barbecue sauce, from a secret recipe going back generations, and sell it online. You have visions (Neptune) of people everywhere loving this sauce. It spreads happiness. You’re going to be wealthy and bring about world peace, one squirt at a time. Then Saturn comes along and says: “Hang on, you’re going to need some kinda permit and maybe start by buying a hair net and gloves. And by the way, glass is breakable so you may want to consider plastic. Oh, and is  you kitchen big enough?” Oy vey.

Do know that while they will travel together into Aries, Saturn will pull ahead and be gone in 2 years. But for now, we still struggle. They have been hovering together, especially from May to August of 2025.  On February 13th, when Saturn reenters Aries, he will conjunct Neptune closely (no more than 2 degrees apart) into mid-March. The conjunction is exact at 0 degrees, on the 20th.

I will probably post on this separately, or do a video, because despite conjunctions of these 2 in the past, none have ever been at 0 degrees Aries. This is the start of the chart, a completely brand new energy forming. A new cycle, of the newest sort. Maybe this heavy energy is going to have us initiating a new way of being. Aries is the first house: individuality, vitality, outward appearance and physical self. Even our image and online profile. That feeling of ‘I can’t do this like this anymore.’

I have a video on the conjunction of the 2. If we know what to expect, we can use this energy wisely. Tt gives us an ideal to strive for, and the tools to make it happen.

Uranus

Uranus moves into Gemini for 7 years on April 25th. We had a first taste from July 7th 2025 to November 7th 2025. Uranus is unpredictable and functions in fits and starts. It is a sudden breakthrough or breakaway. The goal is a push to freedom. Uranus wants us to shed the status quo and structure of Saturn and move on and up. If a situation or person is stifling, restrictive or if you are stuck in the ‘same old, same old’, Uranus wants to break you out.

Uranus also had a strong tech component. Something new and never before seen. There’s a new way or new way through. A new invention or an Aha! moment when it all come together.

Uranus arrived in Taurus in 2017. So if you look back on the part of your chart he was in, you may get a good idea of how Uranus functions. I’ve had Uranus in my 1st house, by Sun chart. I’ve started a blog, built a website, started social media. I also started a YouTube channel. A lot of tech, a lot of change to profile, appearance and public persona. My blog on Uranus in Taurus is here.  I also started a second YouTube channel focusing on creativity and art. My website theme (the program that give it it’s appearance) is outdated. I am forced to change how I show up online in that respect. That’s Uranus.)

I have 2 videos on Uranus into Gemini, here and here. It will be a lot more technology, hopefully serving and not undermining us. Gemini is all about ideas and communication. Gemini is fast and adaptable. Uranus will love it there. We will see inventions that we can’t presently imagine. We can’t know exactly what the upheaval or new thing is, that’s part of uranian energy. But if we know where to expect it, we’ll be prepared.

Astrology is Timing

That’s the beauty of astrology, it is about timing and knowing what to expect. What each of us then decides is up to us, because we always have free will.
